000009In order to kick the holiday season off right, Literarily Speaking will be hosting authors from November 14 – December 14 with a fun way to celebrate the season called “Dear Santa.” Yep, lots of crazy, fun, sentimental, what have you, Dear Santa letters by authors of all genres. Only, this will be a little different as the Dear Santa letters won’t be from the author’s POV, but from their character’s POV. What a fun way to get inside the minds of some of these characters during the Christmas season!

Today’s guest is Victoria from J.B. Miller’s No Time For Love!

Victoria (known as “Tricky Vicky” behind her back) is the overly perfect private school mom. She has a size zero figure, huge breasts, poofy black hair and always comes to school with matching bright colored nails and designer shoes. Victoria is in charge of coordinating the private school parent volunteers at the elite K-8 Park School, and she’s not about to let Chatham Ross off the hook. After all, she has a quota to fill and will do whatever it takes to fill it.

Dearest Santa,

I don’t mean to pry. I completely understand that Christmas is all about you doling out the just rewards for the nice and the, well, naughty. It’s totally your show – I get that. It’s just that, well, I mean – I am not saying by any means that Chatham Ross is naughty. On the contrary, the woman is very nice, actually. That is, of course, whenever she is actually around to be so.

I mean seriously Santa, Mrs. Ross is never, ever here at school! How am I supposed to get 100% volunteer efficiency if I can’t even corner, I mean, have a lovely chat with her? I don’t know, maybe I am being unreasonable. After all, her husband did die, what, five years ago? It’s just that it seems to me that after five years she could find a little bitty amount of time in her schedule to help out at her children’s very special institution of education. Wouldn’t you agree? My goodness Santa, I am only asking for a bare minimum of 50 hours. Aren’t we are all ever so busy with our lives too? Just look at you! You have to deliver all of those glorious presents in only one night. Any chance there is a new pair of neon purple Jimmy Choo’s for Moi in that big red sack of yours?

Oh, yes, sorry, back to our conversation.

So, I have an idea and I was hoping that you would be able to help me by maybe putting a little hint in Chatham’s stocking this year. Would you mind? You see, I am going to ask Chatham to be the Chairperson for the Park School’s school auction. After all, she is in advertising and is so good at all of those trendy campaign themes and catchy jingles and little ditties. I am sure she will be able to plan the whole event in a blink. And, she has so many contacts! Did you know that she has crafted major advertising campaigns for leading restaurants, yacht companies and, oh my, even a religiously run airline? Imagine all of those donations! Chatham Ross is definitely the philanthropist, I am sure of it.

So, again, if you could put a few little hints in her stocking like, oh, I don’t know, an ornament with the regal school castle lion on it or a neon t-shirt that says VOLUNTEER in big bold letters, or, you know, something along those lines? I’ll leave it to your imagination.

OK then Santa. Thank you so very much for a bit of your precious time and for keeping our little secret between us. Oh yes, and thanks in advance for the Jimmy Choos!

Merry Christmas!

Yours truly,

Victoria

President of the Elite Volunteer Force at the one and only Park School

No Time for LoveAbout the Book:

Chatham Ross has no time – for anything, least of all love. She manages her three kid’s demanding schedules, exercises at crazy hours to preserve her less than perfect figure and writes catchy advertising jingles to pay for the mortgage. To the outside world, she seems to have it all – except for a husband. Who has time for that? Besides, hers died unexpectedly five years ago and she’s still not over it. A chance occurrence with a particular jingle finds Chatham on a bi-coastal roller coaster that she can’t seem to put the breaks on. Will the man who has always secretly loved her finally have his chance to ride along? Or will the very handsome foreigner on the other side of the country claim her wounded heart? At some point she has to choose which path is for her – or has it been there all along?
